Liverpool told to wait by top attacking transfer target

Liverpool will have to wait until the summer to find out if top transfer target Julian Brandt will leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Liverpool will be going into this summer’s transfer window with a big question over the availability of their top transfer target. Bayer Leverkusen forward Julian Brandt will not make a decision on his future until this season is finished.
Over the last few months the Reds have honed in on Brandt as a perfect addition to the Liverpool squad. The club have struggled to convince Timo Werner to reject Bayern Munich and Thorgan Hazard to reject Borussia Dortmund as the pair think they will not see enough playing time at Anfield.

However, Brandt is in the perfect scenario to become the fourth forward option for Jurgen Klopp. The German international has incredible tactical flexibility – he has played in all attacking and midfield positions this season.
That means he will get rotated into the lineup far more regularly than Werner or Hazard who are more fitted to one or two positions.
The 22-year-old is a prime candidate to develop under Klopp’s tutelage. He is not even close to his prime but would have a significant impact for the Reds next season.
It has become a bit of a conundrum for Klopp to find quality back-up, rotation and insurance for Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. Such has been the quality of that trio that they are almost undroppable.
However the manager wants competition and some quality cover in the event of injury. Divock Origi could be signed to a new deal and Rhian Brewster is highly thought of but the club want adequate cover for the wide forwards.
While Harry Wilson has impressed at Derby County there remains some doubt whether or not he will make it into the first team picture next season.
