Liverpool 2-0 Porto: Roberto Firmino makes a fool of three Dragões defenders
Liverpool beat their Champions League opponents Porto 2-0 at Anfield and Roberto Firmino was busy making fools of a whole gaggle of Dragões defenders.
The Reds are in a commanding position for the second leg of the quarter-final thanks to a first goal in front of the Kop from Naby Keita and a Firmino tap-in.
But if the Porto back-line thought that Bobby was done with them after that they’re sorely wrong, for he displayed amazing footwork, strength and awareness to completely bamboozle a full trio of them as the clocked ticked down towards 60 minutes.
Firmino got the ball from Jordan Henderson in a less-than-ideal position, about 30 yards away from goal. The Brazilian immediately had a Dragões defender on him. No problem, thought Bobby, who dribbled away from a congested zone on the pitch – while holding off his man really well.

The Dazzler then darting back inside, nearly snapped his ankle off through his own agility, put in a small burst of pace and showed some crazy quick and clean feet to take it round a second defender, past a third and played a ball to Henderson – who put Andy Robertson in on the left-flank.

Firmino has been in top form recently and in his last five Liverpool games has scored three goals and assisted three.
While the Brazilian might not be a tradition, 20+ goals a season forward, his all round game is so developed that he can do so much more. 12 goals and six assists in the Premier League bring his involvement to 18 in 31 appearances – an excellent ratio.
And of course, Firmino is also vital to the side in the Champions League. And to think, Brendan Rodgers didn’t even want him…
