Liverpool 2-0 Porto: Man can’t do a button! Virgil van Dijk has post-match fail
Liverpool cruised past Porto 2-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final but Virgil van Dijk found his post-match interview a bit harder.
The Reds got through the fixture thanks to an excellent goal from Naby Keita and a Roberto Firmino tap-in.
Dejan Lovren was picked to accompany van Dijk in the heart of defence and the Croatian was largely untroubled – definitely more untroubled than his Dutch counterpart was during his press duties after the game.
Jordan Henderson joined the former Southampton man for a little chat with BT Sport before van Dijk felt the need to do up his top button for the cameras. Gotta look the part, innit.

As his massive hands and sausage fingers started trying to get that fiddly little button through the hole, that appeared to get smaller and smaller and his hands struggled to make that delicious connection.
Until, that is, the defender just thought ‘nah sod this’, and abandoned the whole enterprise. As one Twitter user said, ‘man can’t do up a button!’ Have a look at the video at the bottom of this article to see for yourself.
He can defend though. And what a defender van Dijk is.
Liverpool look set to advance to the semi-final of the Champions League for a second season in a row, while Manchester City’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur leaves them chasing a place again.
Almost as importantly, the Reds got through the game without any injury as they now look forward to a huge game against Chelsea on the weekend.
Last month this would have seemed like a routine march to victory, but the Blues have turned their form around and appear to be inspired by Callum Hudson-Odoi (surprise, surprise) and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Jordan Henderson had another European stormer and must be considered as one of the squad’s finest big game players, while Keita showed his promise for a second week in a row.
