Liverpool rival Man City suffer Silva injury in Champions League loss
By David Gate
Liverpool title rivals Man City suffered an injury blow with Bernardo Silva missing the Champions League defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.
While Liverpool had a straightforward 2-0 win over Porto in the Champions League, their domestic title rivals Man City received a double blow; they lost their first leg to Tottenham Hotspur and Bernardo Silva picked up an injury.
The Portuguese international was expected to start last night but he picked up a thigh injury in training before the match and was forced to sit. Pep Guardiola went with Riyad Mahrez over Leroy Sane which didn’t pay off as the Blues slumped to defeat.

There is now doubt that Bernardo Silva will be fit to face Crystal Palace on Sunday in the Premier League and is aiming for the return quarter-final leg next Wednesday.
After losing twice to Liverpool at this stage last season the expectation was that City would put in a commanding performance and at least take a draw back to the Etihad to set them up to progress.
While a 1-0 defeat is not a deathblow – especially as Spurs are famous for bottling big games – it does give them a headache. Hopefully enough of a distraction to cause them to drop points in the title race.
City’s next three league games – Palace away, Spurs at home and Manchester United away- are the three Reds have marked as the most likely places for Guardiola’s side to drop points. Every additional injury and extra bit of pressure could help turn the season in Liverpool’s favor.
Jurgen Klopp’s attentions are firmly fixed on this Sunday’s Premier League game against Chelsea. This is the only remaining fixture the Reds have against a top six side and is a huge hurdle on the way to becoming champions of England.
