Dean Saunders has claimed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal against Watford was better than Mohamed Salah’s for Liverpool against Chelsea.

The talkSPORT presenter made the claim in his show with Alan Brazil, and honestly it just feels like they just think of the most controversial thing to say and lead with that for the social coverage.

Aubameyang basically scored from a lucky bounce after Hornets goalkeeper Ben Foster kicked the ball into the striker’s leading leg and it went into the back of the net.

Salah, by contrast, whistled an unstoppable force of nature into the back of the Blues goal – but that’s not enough for Saunders.

As a former forward and a coach, said the radio man, it was more pleasing to see Aubameyang chase a back-pass across the six yard area and pick up some scraps than see Mo thunder in an inch-perfect drive from distance.

What PEA did doesn’t really take skill, just some desire and a bit of work rate. Every forward in the 72 professional clubs in the country should posses those attributes. Not every forward could do what Salah did – and someone who can should be cherished.

This isn’t going to be a full attack on Saunders. You can half see the point he is trying to make, because Aubameyang does kinda make something out of nothing – but let’s get real here, Salah’s goal was better and that’s that.

This joins the long list of comments that talkSPORT have aired which don’t really make sense and a long list of comments from pundits in the game that don’t really make sense.

It’s an old boys club that seems to hand out paid appearances to former players – and maybe we should recognise it as such.

But anyway, here’s a video of Salah’s wonderful, beautiful, sensational strike for your viewing pleasure. Forget Aubameyang, this is the real deal.
