Liverpool fans are sniggering as Everton are putting all their hopes of stopping the Reds into their on-loan striker Oumar Niasse who has no goals this season.

Liverpool could very well win the Premier League. They are currently top of the table by two points and only need Man City to drop points in one game to move it back into their hands. Everton fans are terrified.

The Blues are so paranoid about a Red title win that they are hyping up the prospect of Ousmar Niasse – who is on-loan at Cardiff – grabbing a goal for the Bluebirds when the Reds head to South Wales this weekend.

However the funny thing for Liverpool fans is that Niasse has precisely zero goals this season. In 870 minutes of Premier League football has registered no goals and no assists.

It is a sign of the increasing desperation on the other side of Stanley Park that Everton fans are clutching at the thinnest of straws, hoping Niasse can find a way past Virgil van Dijk. Literally no forward has done that this season as the Dutchman has not been dribbled past all term.

If the Reds do go on to win the title you can be sure that the Divock Origi 96th minute winner from the Merseyside derby at Anfield will be heralded by Kopites as the key moment of the season. It will be sent as videos and gifs to every Blue we can think of.

Liverpool have four very winnable games, at least on paper. Cardiff away this weekend followed by Huddersfield at home, Newcastle away and Wolves and Anfield on the last day of the season.

Chelsea were the last top six team that Liverpool had to face and the (in the end) comfortable victory sets up every opportunity for the Reds to finish the season with 97 points. The only question is will that be enough?
