Liverpool beat Porto 4-1 to go through to the Champions League semi-final as Virgil van Dijk scored the final goal. Watch his header from the home end here!

Van Dijk wrapped up the win and a Reds fan managed to capture the footage on his iPhone, which was shared via Reddit.

The Dutchman made an uncharacteristic mistake early on but recovered well and remained the calmer man on the field – even calmer than our mate filming the action from the home end.

Resisting the celebration must be tricky, but it’s probably for the best when surrounded by a bunch of grump Porto fans.

It was a bit of a mad night of Champions League football, truth be told, as Tottenham somehow progressed to the semi final at the expense of Manchester City.

That first half was absolutely breathless, but luckily the Liverpool lads managed to keep heart rates at an acceptable level with a fairly routine win on Wednesday night.

Not only is van Dijk an amazing defender, but his height and aerial prowess make him so hard to stop via set pieces as well. The 27-year-old has now scored five club goals this season as well as three for the Netherlands and is nearing double figures for the campaign.

Imagine that, 10 goals a season from your centre-back! With Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino banging them in as well, why would you need your central mids to expose the side by searching for goals?

The club only have a few games left now and how they approach them will either result in 2018/2019 going down in history or it’ll be another example of a ‘nearly’ season.

Everyone involved at Liverpool will be keen to win that first piece of silverware and put behind them this false myth about Jurgen Klopp not achievement much at Anfield.
