There has been much talk that Liverpool need Man Utd to ‘do them a favor’ by taking points off Man City in the Premier League on Wednesday night. But Virgil van Dijk views it differently and fans are loving his response.

Savage. But he’s right. Manchester United are coming off a 4-0 loss to Everton (lol) at the weekend that was one of the most embarrassing results for the Old Trafford side in years. The honeymoon period of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replacing Jose Mourinho is well and truly over.
While United were surging just a month or so ago they looked on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League by finishing in the top four.
They are still only three points off third place, and are well and truly in the mix of things. However their form has been terrible and they look a team unable to score or defend which is not a great combo when you are playing the record-breaking champions from last season.
Van Dijk continued:
“Everton is not easy to beat at home, but 4-0 is a big result. We have no influence on that, but they are still playing for Champions League football and they need to get a result.”

The hope is the fire of the derby will spark life into this insipid Man Utd side. I’m not so sure. City are set on proving themselves after their humiliating exit in the Champions League to Tottenham Hotspur.
Already Liverpool fans are putting their hopes more on Leicester City to get a result against City with Brendan Rodgers being willed by Reds to help out his old side.
