Sadio Mane’s jokes keep backfiring on him
Liverpool star Sadio Mane might think he’s a great joker but Simon Mignolet has revealed that they normally backfire on him!
Mignolet was speaking to the Daily Mail about life with the Reds this season, the season in which he has been fatally disposed of the No.1 position and has warmed the bench behind Alisson Becker.
The Belgian was speaking to journalist Dominic King when he revealed that Mane is always trying to crack jokes around the dressing room, but that half the time nobody gets the punchline and the forward ends up being the one laughed at!
Of course, squad moral is so high that this joshing is always good natured and probably helps the squad to bond more – if anything.

“Mane always tries to be the joker but his jokes aren’t always funny,” revealed Mignolet. The goalkeeper then continued to say that the joke isn’t the punchline anymore and ‘people ended up laughing with him.’
But one thing is for sure, opposition defences aren’t laughing when 20-goal Mane comes charging towards them with the ball glued to his feet.
The Senegal international has been one of the more important squad members for a while now, but this season has seen him hit the turbocharge button and become one of the most feared attackers in the world.
Suddenly there’s no surprise that Real Madrid want to sign Mane – who could let pip Mohamed Salah to the Golden Boot.
But Mignolet has seen his career move in the opposite direction after the arrival of Brazilian Alisson. Jurgen Klopp was right to identify his position as one of weakness and the way he ruthlessly moved to plug the gap in the squad was one of the prime seasons for the successful campaign so far.
Liverpool play Newcastle on Saturday evening as they keep up the fight for the Premier League title.
