Fabinho deserves the keys to the city after this tackle on Luis Suarez during Liverpool’s 4-0 win against Barcelona in the Champions League.

Suarez was making his return to Anfield after winding up the whole city during the first leg of the semi-final, and Fabinho gave him one hell of a welcome. Scroll down to watch the challenge in all its glory!

The Brazilian holding midfielder is snappy in the tackle and isn’t afraid to let the opposition know about it. Basically he’s everything Liverpool have been searching for over the last few years and it’s just great to have him about.

And it’s even better when you see him going through players like Suarez. Fabinho protects the back four like the hungriest, meanist guard dog you’ve ever seen and don’t Barcelona just know it.

Nothing will lead to the ex-AS Monaco man being handed the keys to the city faster than putting in a crunching tackle on a former player who has done nothing but wind up the home support who stood by him through thick and thin.

But almost more importantly, Suarez is a world-class player and preventing him from causing havoc is one of the ways in which Liverpool were able to score four goals without reply. Conceding a home goal here would have been fatal and Fabinho played a huge role in making sure that didn’t happen.

Gini Wijnaldum and Divock Origi both hit doubles but the story isn’t about them right now. Enough words have been devoted to that unlikely pair, now it’s Fab’s time to shine and the dark arts of football’s turn to be rewarded.

So have a look at the tackle, have a look at Suarez and have a look at how the Barcelona players reacted when that Liverpool boy put in an inch-perfect, bone crunching challenge.
