Liverpool transfer news: Deal for £76 million rated forward dead in water

Liverpool fans will be celebrating the latest news that Sadio Mane has no intention of taking a big money transfer to Real Madrid this summer.
While Liverpool fans are eagerly searching for news of incoming transfers there will be just as much joy over the news that Sadio Mane will not be moving to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
There has been consistent reports from Spain of Real Madrid’s interest in the Senegalese forward. That appears to be another example of the Spanish media doing the dirty work of the El Clasico clubs.

They start rumors on behalf of Real Madrid and Barcelona in order to unsettle players in the Premier League, hoping that the player themselves will agitate for a move.
It is the tactic that worked perfectly to disrupt Philippe Coutinho before his record-breaking move to Barca.
However things are different now. It is Liverpool who are racking up record point totals, challenging for titles and going to consecutive Champions League finals. Real are in the dumps. Another pitiful La Liga season was compounded by European failure.
Anfield is a more appealing destination for top players now. The Nou Camp and the Bernabeu may hold a mystical hold on South American players but Mane, like Mohamed Salah, is just happy where he is.
Transfermarkt.co.uk rates Sadio Mane at £76 million but his market figure would likely be north of £150 million, such is his value to Jurgen Klopp and this wonderful Liverpool side.
The Reds are not in a position where they have to sell top players to fund new transfers. They have a ton of increased revenue from Champions League success and are doing a sterling job of selling young players who they’ve developed for huge increases.
We can concentrate on who Liverpool will bring in this summer without any worry about who will leave through the transfer door. Good times.
