Bookmaker odds on Nabil Fekir making a transfer move to Anfield have tumbled after Liverpool owner John Henry promised heavy investment this summer.

Liverpool are heavy favorites once again to sign Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir this summer. The odds of an Anfield move for the French World Cup winner have been slashed after Reds owner John W. Henry is promising heavy spending in the current transfer window.

Henry was speaking to Sky Sports in Madrid ahead of the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow. He shared that winning the European Cup would not make up for missing out on the Premier League title.

He backed up that statement by promising investment this summer to bring the title back to Liverpool for the first time in 30 years.

It is no coincidence that the odds on the club completing a transfer for Nabil Fekir have halved. That move was commonly found at 4/1 and even as long as 7/1 in recent months after last year’s debacle of transfer saga. He is now at 2/1 with both Betfair and Paddy Power.

Whether or not the bookies have this one right remains to be seen. The message from the journalists closest to the club has been consistently that Liverpool won’t be back in for Fekir this summer.

Instead their interests have shifted to his teammate Memphis Depay. Liverpool are 10/11 favorites to sign the Dutch forward with Manchester United the next likely destination at 12/1.

The priority appears to be a flexible attacker to complement the current forward line rather than an attacking midfielder. That is largely due to the promise shown by Naby Keita in his first season and the return of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to the fold.

I wouldn’t rule Fekir out entirely – especially after an injury free season – but I think he is a secondary option behind more attacking transfer targets at this point.
