Firmino to make the difference

Liverpool won both matches against Tottenham in the Premier League this season. Both were tight matches, falling to Liverpool 2-1. These results bode well for the Premier League runner-ups in the Champions League final.

I’m not one much for history, but with the exception of a 4-1 rout in 2017, Liverpool haven’t lost a match to Spurs since November 2012. This also bodes well for Liverpool.

On the contrary, Tottenham have received a boost with Harry Kane claiming that he will most definitely play in the Final. Kane may not be up to full fitness for the match, but having your talisman striker on the pitch is a boost nonetheless. Liverpool have also received some positive news as Roberto Firmino is back in training after missing time with a thigh injury.

With the inclusion of Firmino, Liverpool’s front three will prove to be too much to handle for a Tottenham back line that has been stingy all season, except when facing strong attacking sides. Tottenham conceded four goals in the second leg against Manchester City and two goals in the second leg against Ajax.

The match will likely be a dogfight through the middle of the park between Liverpool’s hard-nosed defensive midfielders and Tottenham’s crafty attacking midfielders. This will lead to an open game in the final third, in which the advantage falls to Liverpool. Tottenham may be able to steal a goal, but the traffic will be heavy towards Lloris’ goal.

My final prediction? Liverpool 3-1 Tottenham.
