Liverpool transfer target with euphoric praise for Reds on Twitter
By David Gate
Liverpool transfer target Memphis Depay took to Instagram to congratulate two Reds after the Champions League final victory over Spurs.
Liverpool have not been short of congratulations since they beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final on Saturday. Yet the praise from Memphis Depay has been noted by keen watchers of the Reds’ transfer targets.
The Dutch forward posted out a picture of himself, Gini Wijnaldum and Virgil van Dijk playing for the Netherlands together with the caption:
“So proud of @GWijnaldum and @VirgilvDijk on winning the @ChampionsLeague, y’all did it!!! Now let’s bring them winning ways to Portugal as we go again on Thursday! ”
There has been a concerted effort from the Liverpool pair – especially Wijnaldum – to convince their international colleague to make the switch from Lyon to Anfield.

This is one of the first times where Memphis Depay is responding in kind on social media to the overtures of his countrymen.
The ex-Manchester United player left the Premier League as a flop after an unsuccessful spell as at Old Trafford. He has since kicked on at Lyon, shifting from the wing to the central attacking position and has put together two outstanding seasons in Ligue1.
He reached double figures for both league goals and assists this season while chipping in 4 goals and 7 assists in the last two European campaigns for the French side.
The 25-year-old is just hitting his prime and could see a boost to his game like Mohamed Salah did arriving at Anfield at the same age.
Depay is currently the most likely player to sign for Liverpool this summer with transfer odds of 10/11 on him joining the Dutch contingent of the Jurgen Klopp revolution.
