Lionel Messi has revealed that his own son mocks him during their backyard football sessions for Barcelona’s Champions League loss against Liverpool.

The Reds famously put four past Barca at Anfield to advance to the final of the European cup, and Messi has spoken about how his own flesh and blood uses that painful defeat to taunt him!

After exiting the Champions League in such dramatic fashion, you’d imagine the Catalan giants would go back to Spain, lick their wounds and conquer the next trophy in their calendar. Wrong.

Valenica then managed to defeat them in the Copa de Rey. And you guessed it, Messi’s son pretends to be them during their backyard football sessions – just to wind up his old man.

After getting 750,000 fans to the Champions League winners parade in Liverpool, it hardly seems like the club can cope with any extra support. But if it happens to come from Messi jnr, who are we to cherry pick?

The pain of that defeat must be hard enough without your son reminding you of it every chance he gets, and the great man just has to deal with it through gritted teeth because it’s his child. Brilliant.

Hopefully Liverpool can go one better and win the Premier League next season, and maybe start to embed the notion of greatness inside this kid’s head. We’re playing the long game here, but what if he becomes a world class player and has an insane longing to join the Reds?

Then we’ve snapped up a supreme talent, all because Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum hit two goals each in front of a buoyant Anfield.

In other news, it’s been rumoured that Liverpool have made their first transfer approach of the season for Lille forward Nicolas Pepe. Pepe has 22 goals and 11 assists in Ligue 1 this season and could be the versatile forward the Reds need.
