Neil Etheridge deal makes loads of sense
Liverpool have been linked with the transfer of Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge and this is a deal that makes a lot of sense.
The Reds are going to lose Simon Mignolet as the back-up ‘keeper this summer and won’t want to bank on youngsters Caoimhin Kelleher and Kamil Grabara, while Loris Karius is still on loan to Besiktas.
As a result of this need, Liverpool have turned their attention to Etheridge – said Wales Online. The Philippines international would be available for around £10 million, but Aston Villa, West Ham and Fulham are all keeping track on him as well.
The difficulty is finding an experienced stopper who knows he won’t get many minutes behind Alisson Becker.

Etheridge has already indicated that he doesn’t mind being on the bench, although that may change when he has to do it every week.
He’s also 29-years-old, and before this season hadn’t played in the Premier League before. This could be his last chance to play for a major club in his career. It could be his only chance.
If you look around at the other teams after the goalkeeper, it’s not exactly the cream of the crop. It wouldn’t take much persuading to get Etheridge to turn down Villa and the Hammers in favour of a move to a side who’ll be going for league and continental honours.
The price, too, is excellent and would allow Liverpool some extra manoeuvrability in the market.
Unless they try to sign a promising youngster, which would cost more, the Reds would have to look in the Rob Green end of the market without this move.
The Echo are reporting that the club are looking at Adrien, who is available on a free transfer after leaving West Ham. That deal, too, would make good sense. The back up goalkeeper market is a strange place.
