Liverpool are making a transfer move for Lille forward Nicolas Pepe which has been confirmed by a trusted journalist but he is urging some caution.
Liverpool are being strongly linked to a transfer for Lille striker Nicolas Pepe in the press and one journalist with a good track record is confirming it’s true.
Mohamed Bouhafsi gained huge respect among the Liverpool fanbase just over a year ago as the journo who broke the Fabinho to Anfield move. That one came out of nowhere with not even a rumor until a few hours before it was announced.

He is one of the best connected journalists in France for transfer news. When asked on Twitter this weekend about the Nicolas Pepe he said:
“Liverpool is well placed but… Liverpool and Bayern Munich negotiate with Lille and the player. It is not advanced at the moment because the player wants to think a little more. A very important 3rd club will position itself quickly.”
The club have obviously made a move – with a deal rumored to be agreed with the player and his agent – but nothing confirmed with Lille.
There is also the confirmation that Liverpool are not alone in the chase for the 24-year-old. Bayern Munich are named directly as they look to replace the departed Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.
Bouhafsi also states a third club will move for the Ivorian in the transfer window, rumored to be Chelsea.
The Blues are facing a transfer ban so they may not be able to complete any deals this summer but Eden Hazard moving to Real Madrid they will be scouring the top attacking talent in Europe for a replacement.
I am hoping that the Reds can agree a reasonable fee for Pepe as he would be a fantastic fourth option for Jurgen Klopp next season.
