Liverpool transfer target Nicolas Pepe is causing some frenzied speculation after he liked a tweet by RushTheKop about his rumored move to Anfield this summer.

Did Nicolas Pepe just like our tweet about his transfer move to Liverpool? It appears he may have. The Ivorian striker is sending fans into some frenzied speculation after an account bearing his name liked a tweet we put out on Monday.

We wrote at the beginning of the week how respected French football journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi has confirmed that Liverpool are making a move for Pepe but they are not the only club so there needs to be caution with Bayern Munich and, possibly, Chelsea snooping around.

This scheduled tweet put out the article on what we think will happen and we were surprised to see ‘Nicolas Pepe‘ pop up in the like notifications.

More from Rush The Kop

My initial thought is that it was a fan account but it appears to be one at least pertaining to be the forward himself.

Now because there is no blue check mark we can’t be 100% certain but the account is new and already has over 2k followers.

As we have seen with crazy stories from previous transfer windows – tracking planes, manic ITKs – this time of the year brings out some of the weirdest and most obsessive fans. Perhaps we find out in a few days this account is fake, but for now I’m going to choose to believe Pepe wants to play for the Reds!

If the club do move for him he will cost a huge amount – rumored to be almost £80 million. I’m sure if that transfer deal happens he will be getting that blue tick pretty quickly!
