Liverpool are rumored to be making a move for Kylian Mbappe in the transfer window but could Nike hold the key to any deal happening?
Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool, really? I’m sure you’ve asked yourself this question over the last week or so as the Reds have been linked to the best young player in the world. While this remains firmly as speculation there is some news regarding Nike that could hint the transfer could actually happen.
Liverpool have been negotiating with Nike, Adidas, Puma and current shirt manufacturers New Balance about who will take on making the club’s shirts and sportswear when the present deal runs out at the end of the coming season.

If Nike were to seal that contract then I believe that would greatly improve the chances of Kylian Mbappe joining Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The French phenomenon is perhaps Nike’s biggest soccer star at the moment after winning the World Cup a year ago. He also has over a decade left in the game at only 20-years-old.
You know that Nike would be desperate for him to join a club who play in their shirts – it must be hard for any sports manufacturer to see their highest paid stars trot out in rival merchandise every week.
After seeing Eden Hazard, another brand ambassador, move to Real Madrid who wear Adidas they will not want to see another big soccer star leave a Nike brand (PSG) for Madrid.
If Liverpool sign with Nike they will immediately join Barcelona as the biggest clubs in the world with shirts made by the American company. Do Nike promise to bump up their shirt deal offer with the promise they can swing Mbappe to Liverpool?
Certainly the player’s visit to Nike offices in LA and meeting LeBron James only makes the speculation more fierce. If the Reds become a Nike team then I can see this one happening for sure.
