Danny Welbeck to Liverpool? One national newspaper says yes
By David Gate
Liverpool could be in the market for former Arsenal and Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck according to one national newspaper.
Perhaps you are finding it hard to choose between Timo Werner, Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Nicolas Pepe as players you want Liverpool to sign in this transfer window. Well, the Reds could be getting Danny Welbeck instead says one national newspaper.
The super-duper-ultra-reliable Daily Star has highlighted four free agents that Liverpool could sign when their contracts expire on Monday. The four they list are Arjen Robben from Bayern Munich, Adrien Rabiot from PSG, Hector Herrera of Porto and Danny Welbeck from Arsenal.

Welbeck has struggled with injuries during his time at the Emirates, only making 88 league appearances in 5 seasons in North London. He is being released as Arsenal have moved on to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
The Star think he could come in as a cheap option to back up Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. This is would be a left field move that doesn’t jive with the way decisions have been made at Anfield since Jurgen Klopp took over.
They recently released Daniel Sturridge who is only a year older, has a similar injury record but has scored more goals. Why would they release a trusted member of the group just to replace him with a slightly worse version who is also a Manc?
Add to that the fact there is no way Liverpool pay Robben the kind of wages he’d be looking for and Rabiot is set to sign for Juventus and it is easy to conclude that this entire article smells of bull feces.
Klopp believes in Rhian Brewster and they won’t sign Danny Welbeck to get in the way of the youngster’s development. And I’m very glad we don’t have management who sign over-the-hill-overrated English dross. (I’m looking at you Roy Hodgson, Paul Konchesky and Joe Cole).
