Liverpool fans are hoping Roberto Firmino can work some magic off the field to convince David Neres he need to leave Ajax for Anfield in this transfer window.

After winning the Copa America with Brazil on Sunday, David Neres has stated he is set to play for Ajax again next season. However Liverpool fans are urging Roberto Firmino to convince him to swap Amsterdam for Anfield before the transfer window closes.

Neres had a breakout season in 2018/19 – grabbing 12 goals and 15 assists – as Ajax surprised many by reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League, losing in the last few seconds to Tottenham Hotspur.

There is now a long list of clubs who want the versatile winger. Everton have shown the most interest – and are still some  bookies favorites – but it is thought the player is uninterested in the Bitter Blues.

Arsenal and Manchester United have been heavily linked to him from the Premier League with PSG, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund heading up the European contingent pursuing the 22-year-old.

Liverpool have also been included in that group though there has been more public talk of a transfer move for Nicolas Pepe or Ousmane Dembele.

However many Liverpool fans believe David Neres is the better option as he would be cheaper – nearer £50 million rather than £80 million+ each for the other pair – and he is equally at home on both wings.

That would allow Jurgen Klopp to have excellent cover for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah with Divock Origi and Rhian Brewster covering the central position.

Fans are hoping Bobby Firmino can persuade David Neres that he should hold out for the Anfield switch much like he did with Alisson Becker and Fabinho last season.

Neres would be an exciting addition for the fans and tick many of the boxes the Reds are looking for in a new attacker in the summer transfer window.
