Liverpool fans are making the most of the slow transfer window by gently trolling the official LFC social media accounts after club expand deal with MG Motors.

This is the new normal. Liverpool announce a new business partnership and a thousand fans tweet ‘Announce Mbappe’ underneath. The latest expansion to the Reds corporate partner list is MG Motors who are now the club’s official car partner or something.

‘Official Global Car Partner’ is the exact phrase used in the official announcement today. They even got a photo-op of the signing with Liverpool CEO Peter Moore and special background all looking like a transfer signing announcement.

The fans are disappointed that the club are not capitalizing on their returned status to the top of European football by bolstering the squad ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Jurgen Klopp will likely have to get 100 points in the league this season to wrestle the title from Man City after they have spent over £100 million already this summer with another signing expected before the transfer window closes.

To date the Reds have bought one player – 17-year-old Sepp van den Berg – for £2 million and he is not even allowed to play for the team yet as his international clearance has not come through. While he may grow into a star at Anfield over the next few years it is unlikely he will have an impact on the first team next season as he adapts to a new country and club.

This is the second corporate sponsorship deal of the summer after the club announced that 1XBET would be their new betting partner last week.

The LFC bosses are clearly making the most of winning the Champions League in the sponsorship realm but fans are really hoping that can translate to Michael Edwards’ end of the office also.

Nobody is panicking – this is the best squad Liverpool have had since… ever? Yet there can be improvements and a new left back and another attacking option would bolster this group of players for the increase in fixtures this year.
