Liverpool have been named as the third club who are interested in a transfer for Bayer Leverkusen sensation Kai Havertz according to reports.
Liverpool Football Club have been revealed as one of three top European clubs chasing a transfer for goal scoring sensation Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen according to the latest reports.
German paper Bild (not SportBild, but the reliable one) has an interview with the player where he talks about moving on from Leverkusen:

“At some point the next step must come for me… Now I’m starting my 10th year here, maybe we can make it a golden one for the club. What will happen afterwards has not yet been decided.”
They go on to note he is a transfer target for Bayern Munich. He established himself as the top scoring midfielder in the Bundesliga last season with an impressive 17 goals and three assists.
There is no surprise that Bayern are quick to look at hoovering up one of their league rivals’ top talents, but there is interest from outside Germany with Liverpool and Barcelona being named as the other pair of clubs vying for his signature.
Playing in a free roaming ‘number 8 role’ he would offer something very different for Jurgen Klopp. While he has not played as a central striker he has many of the same qualities as Roberto Firmino and the German boss could see his countryman as a natural successor to the Brazilian over the next few years.
It is very unlikely that Kai Havertz would move in this transfer window as Bayer Leverkusen want to keep the player for their Champions League run this year. But the player is poised for a big money move in 2020 believed to be around £89 million under current valuations.
While Liverpool may not complete a transfer for him in the next few weeks they could set a deal for next summer like they did with Naby Keita in 2017.
