Liverpool fans were sent into a frenzy last night by a series of tweets about Lille forward Nicolas Pepe agreeing a transfer move.
It doesn’t take much these days. A handful of tweets late last night culminated in the quick re-ignition of the Nicolas Pepe to Liverpool transfer rumors.
Speculation that the Lille attacker will be heading to Anfield has lingered on all summer but strong denials from journalist Melissa Reddy and the Liverpool ECHO have quashed the talk.

Those who are more conspiracy minded believe they were instructed to do that as Liverpool wanted to talk to Lille under the cover of darkness with Manchester United also chasing the prolific winger.
Though last night changed the tone on Twitter for Liverpool fans. First was the news, casually dropped by Telegraph journalist Chris Bascombe in his pre-season Sevilla write-up, that the club are planning on making one signing to the first team squad.
This was the first piece of positive transfer news from a trusted source the fans have had for weeks. Maybe all summer.
That news was then linked to reports in France (LaVoixDuNord) that Pepe has agreed his move away from the Ligue 1 side. However those reports do not confirm his destination with both Anfield and Old Trafford held out as possibilities.
Then late into the evening there was a final tweet from Seydou Kande. He was the first to break the news Liverpool were going to buy Naby Keita and has been saying Nicolas Pepe would be coming to the Reds since March this year.
And now we are slap back in the middle of hopeful speculation that the European Champions might actually sign a player this summer. Until it is gets shot down by a journo of course. Enjoy it while it lasts.
