Liverpool vs Napoli: ‘Inexcusably awful’ Reds worry fans with leaky performance
Liverpool got beat 3-0 by Napoli at Murrayfield as they gave an ‘inexcusably awful’ performance against the Italians.
The normally resolute Reds shipped three goals in Edinburgh and failed to trouble the scoresheet in the latest warm-up loss.
With a near full strength back line this is a concern. Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip all started while Simon Mignolet played instead of the resting Alisson Becker.
And that’s one of the things that has to be a concern as fans called the performance ‘inexcusably awful’, among other things.

Jurgen Klopp will certainly have much thinking to do ahead of the first Premier League game of the season against Norwich City on the 9th of August – and one of them will be how to return the defence to the strength of last season.
Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and James Milner started in midfield for the team, who were still missing Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
And so a lack of protection for the defence can’t even be blamed for the poor performance. It would almost be better it if could be.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain started and got more minutes under his belt as the Ox looked to come back from that ACL injury sustained over a year ago now. He will provide versatility and explosive power from midfield and so it’s important that he can get back to his pre-injury levels.
Liverpool take on French side Lyon in their final preseason game before facing Manchester City in the slightly more competitive Community Shield.
The defence will need to be back to their best to beat City and their awesome squad, even if Leroy Sane could be one the way out. Bayern Munich are feeling good about their chances of signing Sane, said Sky Sports, and he will be a big miss for Pep Guardiola.
