Liverpool failed to make a single transfer to challenge the first team this summer but could make some January transfers according to the Liverpool ECHO.
Are you disappointed that Liverpool didn’t make any transfers this summer? Because I am. But that doesn’t mean the Reds won’t head into the transfer market this January according to the Liverpool ECHO.
In an article about the fixture overload and LFC competing in seven competitions Paul Gorst (ECHO) lays out how the Reds could make an addition or two early in 2020:

“By the time the January transfer window is open, Klopp may decide that his options need increasing with the Liverpool manager aware of what is still on offer to him and the club on New Year’s Day.”
This runs counter to some theories among the fans that significant funds were not available for Jurgen Klopp this summer. Many think the failure to sell Nathaniel Clyne, Ryan Kent and Harry Wilson is why the manager did not splash the cash.
The reveal that Liverpool will continue to watch the transfer market – and will make a move when they want to – is more in line with comments made by the owners. The club’s success last season only added to the finances available.
While the conspiracy theorists are speculating Klopp has no money, the wild optimists believe they are saving for something huge.
One theory about why Liverpool didn’t spend any money this summer is that they are planning an enormous move for 2020. The leading candidates for that theory are Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele or Jadon Sancho.
If the club can win a trophy or two this season and pull off a mega-deal like that next year then there will be a lot of fans re-evaluating their take on this year’s summer transfer window.
