He denied the charges at a previous hearing but today changed his plea to guilty in order to avoid a maximum sentence of six months in prison if he was found guilty by the court.
Saunders played for the Reds under Graeme Souness for the 1991/92 season. He was brought in from Derby County to reunite his Welsh international striking partnership with Ian Rush.
Despite only a year at the club he finished the season as top scorer with 23 goals in all competitions. He started in the FA Cup final that Liverpool won 2-0 over Sunderland.
However, his contribution of just 11 goals in the league was a disappointment as the Reds sank to sixth place in the league. The side scored just 13 goals away from home all season and was a huge reason for the poor league position.
The club sold him to Aston Villa in September 1992, just 14 months after he had arrived at Anfield.
He is a regular on TalkSport and is often brought in the BBC as a pundit for Welsh international games.
