Liverpool starlet Kamil Grabara is on loan with Huddersfield Town and despite the risky Cruyff turns Town still love the goalkeeper.
The Reds made the decision to send Grabara out to the Championship side and continue a happy tradition of stoppers learning their trade with the Terriers after Danny Ward performed play-off heroics with the Yorkshire side while still contracted to Liverpool.
And Grabara could follow in his footsteps after an excellent start to life with the former Premier League outfit – even after managerial upheaval.
It’s been a bad 2019/2020 for Huddersfield and fans are not happy. Jan Siewert has already been sacked, but one thing that is going well is the goalkeeper situation. Steven Chicken, the Huddersfield writer for Examiner Live, picks up the story here.
"“He’s (Grabara) already got the fans’ trust, which is pretty remarkable for an on-loan 20-year-old keeper.“For all Town have had a lot of problems this season, the one area where I have barely heard a peep out of a very upset fanbase is the goalkeeper.”"
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp likes stoppers who are good with the ball at their feet, even if that does get them into trouble on certain occasions. The Pole follows this blueprint, and has given Town supporters a few nervous moments.

From doing Cruyff turns in his own six yard box to displaying massive amounts of confidence with the football, Chicken has confessed that watching Grabara has led to a few ‘heart-in-the-mouth’ moments – but he is yet to make a mistake that leads to a goal.
On top of that, the starlet was also called ‘practically undroppable’ by Chicken in his latest set of power rankings for the Examiner.
The youngster is also a good shot stopper and makes the most of his considerable frame to keep out goal bound efforts. By using the full length of his body, Grabara forms a dart-like shape to deny attackers.
Jonas Lossl left Huddersfield for Everton at the end of the season but Terriers fans have barely registered Lossl’s departure thanks to Grabara’s impressive form, added Chicken.
While Rob Stewart, who wrote a book on the club called The 101 Club, said that the young Pole is a rare silver lining.
"“He’s been a solid last line of defence and he’s good with his feet. He’s one of the few reasons for optimism at the club where the fans are on a downer.”"
Both Chicken and Stewart spoke about the type of person Grabara and reckoned it was a massive positive. After his debut was a ‘baptism of fire’, according to Stewart, the goalkeeper showed great minerals to recover.
Huddersfield might be in a tricky place right now but their Polish goalkeeper is a ray of hope, and that should warm the hearts of Liverpool fans all over.
