Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has some mixed injury news today ahead of the Reds clash with Newcastle United tomorrow in the Premier League.

It’s Friday and the Premier League is back tomorrow after the international break which means we have fresh injury news ahead Liverpool facing Newcastle at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp updated the press in his pre-match media conference about the current state of a few players who have been in the treatment room.

The good news is that Naby Keita is close to returning to full training and would be in contention to play within a week of that happening. The Guinean was injured at the end of April and has stalled in his return.

First he was injured on international duty and then again before the UEFA Super Cup final. It will be an almost five month absence from Premier League football for the midfielder but it is great to hear that he is close to a return.

The bad news is that Alisson is not close to returning from his calf injury and they are aiming at after the next international break in October for his full recovery. Klopp stated there is a chance he will be back sooner.

However, the trajectory of this injury has been consistently longer than they have been telling us. I would expect him back in the second half of October. Anything earlier would be a huge bonus and a surprise.
