Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp spoke about the Sadio Mane injury situation after the win at Chelsea, calling it an ‘awful combination’.
Liverpool Football Club are top of the English Premier League. Where they belong. There were good feelings all around for the players, fans and manager after the 2-1 victory at Chelsea, but also a little concern for Sadio Mane who left the game with an injury.
Manager Jurgen Klopp addressed the situation after the game telling reporter in his press conference: “It was a knock on the bone, and a dead leg. That’s an awful combination.”

Mane tried to carry on and run it off but eventually the pain and discomfort was too great and he was substituted for James Milner after 71 minutes.
Klopp insisted that Mane “tried everything” but he could not continue. There is no indication that the injury is anything more serious than a knock and there is no suggestion that Mane will miss any playing time.
He is likely to be rested anyway for the midweek League Cup clash against MK Dons on Wednesday. He should be able to suit up for the trip to Sheffield United in the Premier League on Saturday for the early kick off as the Reds attempt to maintain their perfect start to the domestic season.
While the expectation is that Mane will be fine, there has been some suspicion over the club’s reporting of injuries and absences.
An initial proclamation that goalkeeper Alisson Becker would only be missing for a few weeks has turned into a two month absence and counting.
Therefore while I won’t be losing any sleep about Sadio Mane missing time I will make sure to pay attention to interviews and injury reports in the next few days.
