Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita returned from injury against MK Dons but some fans were unimpressed labelling his performance as a ‘disasterclass’.

Liverpool Football Club overcame MK Dons tonight in Milton Keynes with a solid 2-0 victory to progress to the fourth round of the competition. But many fans were unimpressed with star midfielder Naby Keita.

Jurgen Klopp named a team and bench full of young players with only a handful of senior pros getting a run out.

Keita was named in the starting eleven after returning from injury alongside other first teamer James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez.

The Guinean has struggled to stay fit in 2019 after impressing in the early months of the year before getting injured towards the end of last season.

He was rushed back by his international side and aggravated his injuries in the African Cup of Nations. He missed most of the pre-season but made a cameo against Man City in the Community Shield before picking up another injury prior to the UEFA Super Cup Final.

The midfielder played 61 minutes tonight before being substituted for Pedro Chirivella. Some fans were not impressed by his return:

In reality, it was nothing that terrible. Tried a few things that didn’t come off and struggled to create against the massed ranks of the MK Dons midfield. There is really nothing to worry about here and he has shown enough flashes of talent at Anfield to think he will make a sizable impact when he is at full fitness.

It will be interesting to see if Naby Keita makes the match day squad for this Saturday’s Premier League matchup with Sheffield United.
