Liverpool travel to Sheffield United this weekend in the Premier League and one teenage star from the victory at MK Dons looks set to make the bench.

It has been the turn of the teenagers and youngster to take center stage this week as Jurgen Klopp rested his entire Liverpool first team for the Carabao Cup victory against MK Dons. Now comes the decision which of those young stars to include against Sheffield United tomorrow.

Three young names in particular shone from the League Cup victory; Ki-Jana Hoever, who found the score sheet; Harvey Elliott, who hit the woodwork twice and was named LFC Man-of-the-Match; Curtis Jones, who picked up the MOTM award from Sky Sports.

On Saturday, the Reds head to Bramall Lane hoping to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season and the fans are eager to see some of the young players given a chance to shine at this level.

The Blades are not the most fearsome league opponent, and there is a Champions League game coming up in midweek, so could Klopp make some changes?

Probably not. It would be a huge surprise to see any of the trio named above in the match day squad as Liverpool go full tilt to win the title.

However, the bench will not be absent of youth. Rhian Brewster will represent the teenagers and keep his place as the sole substitute striker with Divock Origi still recovering from injury.

Caoimhín Kelleher, 20-years-old, proved why the club rate him so highly with some good saves against MK Dons to keep a clean sheet on his debut. He will continue to back up Adrian until Alisson Becker recovers.

The injury to Xherdan Shaqiri that kept him out midweek opens up the remote possibility of Curtis Jones or Harvey Elliott being included but the manager is likely to replace the Swiss star with Naby Keita who is fit again for selection.

It won’t be long until the Reds have a few more players in the treatment room and some of these young stars will get an opportunity to get their first taste of Premier League experience. But it probably won’t be tomorrow.
