Liverpool star right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is the latest subject of a Don Balon transfer rumour in an article that has to be a wind up.
The Spanish publication is notorious for being absolute trash. The club Reddit page have it listed below their list of sites who print ‘absolute lies’ and Don Balon have the dubious honor of sharing their banned status with the likes of IndyKaila and the S*n.
They reckon that Barcelona want to sign Alexander-Arnold for £72 million, which isn’t much of a surprise considering he’s probably the best right-back in the world. But where it gets mental is the price and the fact that Barca think Liverpool would want to sell.
To give them some credit, they did mention that Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t be willing to sell Trent Alexander-Arnold – but that goes without saying! Don Balon have essentially published a non-rumour dressed as transfer news to generate interest.

Liverpool would probably like to sign a fair few players that they know they have no chance of getting, but you don’t see that sort of thing shouted from the rooftops.
So instead of giving the non-rumour some air time, let’s talk about how good Alexander-Arnold is instead. I mean, really, how good is the 21-year-old?
Trent has already played more games for Liverpool than Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher did at the same age, he’s an important member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad and he’s a vital cog in Klopp’s wheel.
That record breaking 2018/2019 was properly sensational and there are few full-backs in the world who could match it for numbers. Not only does TAA get on the board for goals and assists, but his range of passing is simply special and you could see him doing a job in midfield.
Manchester United are up next in the league, let’s hope Southgate sends back a healthy Alexander-Arnold because he’ll be desperate to rip the Red Devils to shreds.
With all of their struggles, you can’t see United posing the same threat that they used to. But in big games like this, you never know. With Alisson due to return, Liverpool will have extra stability at the back and that bodes well.
