Several Liverpool fans were disappointed after assistant manager Pep Lijnders confirmed that Caoimhin Kelleher would be given a start against Arsenal ahead of Adrian.
Following Alisson’s calf injury against Norwich City, the Spaniard was between the sticks for the Reds until their first-choice goalie returned. Adrian helped Liverpool win the UEFA Super Cup and produced some fine saves as they reached the top of the Premier League table.
With Alisson back to full fitness, the 32-year-old will undoubtedly be Jurgen Klopp’s second-choice goalkeeper. Lijnders confirmed while speaking to Liverpool’s official website. that but also said that Caoimhin Kelleher would feature in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup matches.

Speaking to the club’s official website, their assistant manager said: “For us, Ali is our No.1 – more than a No.1 I would say! We have Adrian, who did an unbelievable job and if something happens with Ali, Adrian is our No.2 and then has to do the job.
"“But in this League Cup, it is Caoimhin’s competition. As I said before the MK Dons game, with youth development, with these moments when they are in between the U23s and the first team, consistency is very important. He had a good game and he is preparing for another one. It will be special for him playing at Anfield.”"
This means that Kelleher could most likely start in goal ahead of Adrian in tonight’s fixture against Arsenal at Anfield, something which could upset the 32-year-old.
Several Liverpool fans were disappointed with the possibility of the Spaniard missing out on a start in tonight’s fixtures. Here are some of the Twitter reactions:
