Liverpool Twitter is going mad after some huge potential injury news filtered out of Man City’s game against Atalanta on Wednesday.

Ederson was substituted at half-time during their clash in Italy in a move that will fill thousands of Reds’ fans with joy and the assembled masses of Cityzens with dread.

Claudio Bravo is a decent goalkeeper but he’s not at the level of his Brazilian team-mate, and everyone knows it.

This has been a terrible campaign for City in terms of the amount of injuries they’ve picked up. Their defence has been shredded by them, so much so that Pep Guardiola has been forced to pick Fernandinho at the back.

We’ve already wrote how injury could give Liverpool the keys to the castle and if Ederson is out of the game on Sunday it could be doubly so.

Alisson has already suffered a period on the sidelines and although understudy Adrian did well, the Spaniard definitely didn’t inspire the same confidence at the back as the Liverpool first choice goalkeeper.

The Reds managed to get through their Champions League clash against Genk without any future injury problems, something manager Jurgen Klopp loved to see, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continued his encouraging form with another goal.

Key players were given a rest while others such as Fabinho brought back in to provide them with some minutes in the legs before Sunday – and that should help make the difference during a very difficult game.

City went into the second half of their game with a slender 1-0 lead after Raheem Sterling hit the back of the net, although Gabriel Jesus was guilty of missing a penalty. That will not please Pep.
