Done deal: Liverpool confirm goalscoring midfielder contract signed

Liverpool midfielder Elijah Dixon-Bonner has signed a contract extension after impressing in the Reds Under-23 side this season.

Liverpool Football Club have an exciting pool of young players and one of them has just committed be around for longer. Elijah Dixon-Bonner has signed a contract extension at Anfield according to the official LFC website.

The 18-year-old only signed his first professional contract last year but has already earned an extension as the Reds management have been delighted with his development.

He already has a big highlight in his Anfield career as he scored a penalty in the shootout against Man City as the Liverpool academy side won the FA Youth Cup.

This season he has become a fixture in the reserve Under-23 side, captaining the team on a number of occasions and scoring goals. The LFC site says of him:

"A creative midfielder, Dixon-Bonner has been a noticeable attacking threat in the last few months, adding extra goals to his game"

He will be looking at the stellar rise of Trent Alexander-Arnold as inspiration for what is possible for lads from the Academy. The full back was in the same spot as Dixon-Bonner two-and-a-half years ago.

Now Alexander-Arnold is nominated for the Ballon d’Or, a Champions League winner and arguably the best at his position in the world.

But the England right back is no exception. Curtis Jones is another rising quickly through the ranks and has been impressive in the Reds’ Carabao Cup wins this season, earning him a bench spot for the Champions League win against Genk.

Add to that the willingness of Jurgen Klopp to give other teenagers opportunities like new recruits Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg.

It is an incredibly exciting time to be a young player coming through at Anfield and Elijah Dixon-Bonner has every chance to make a success of his career.
