Liverpool have been linked to £17 million Schalke midfielder Amine Harit today but the transfer rumor smells of a fabrication.
Liverpool transfer stories are always good clickbait for media outlets. Today’s fantastical transfer speculation is that the Reds are pursuing a £17 million move for Schalke midfield man Amine Harit.
Stefano Chioffi of Italian sports paper Corriere dello Sport is claiming that Liverpool have sent their ‘chief scout’ to watch Harit in the Bundesliga.
The 22-year-old Moroccan international has scored five goals and contributed two assists in his 11 Bundesliga appearances this term. Apparently his contract expires in 18 months and so the German side are willing to cash in on him now. That has prompted the fresh transfer speculation.

While Harit is a decent player, he is hardly one of the top talents in the European leagues and this rumor reeks of clickbait speculation.
The majority of the report centers on the relationship between Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Schalke boss Dave Wagner. That connection was much discussed over the last few years as the two managers competed in the Premier League while Wagner was Huddersfield boss.
The implication is that Wagner could wrangle some sort of ‘mates rates’ deal for Klopp or that Liverpool would jump to the front of some imaginary queue for the player. As if that’s how huge sporting franchises conduct multi-million pound deals.
Just last week Klopp was reported as being happy with his midfield options in the wake of speculation that the club were going to move for Ryan Fraser of Bournemouth.
It seems very unlikely that stance has changed in the last few days because Dave Wagner has a player who is doing alright at the moment.
I think it’s safe to ignore this rumor. It is the kind of baseless European speculation that will not even elicit a response from the journos closest to the club.
