Liverpool transfer target James Maddison of Leicester City tweeted out his love of a Virgil van Dijk video made by the official LFC site.

Liverpool Football Club are doing things well. On and off the pitch the Reds are impressing fans with how they are operating. One interesting admirer is possible transfer target and Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

Maddison has long been touted for a move to Anfield and was believed to have impressed Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards at Norwich City but a transfer never materialized.

More from Rush The Kop

Just a few weeks ago, former Liverpool legend Steve McMahon encouraged the team to sign the midfield man. Maddison has been in excellent form for Leicester as the Foxes have climbed to second in the Premier League table, the Reds closest rivals.

He did no harm to his credibility in front of the Kop when he scored against the Reds in the 2-1 victory over Leicester last month.

Now he is further endearing himself to the Anfield faithful by tweeting out praise for a video released by the official LFC twitter account.

It’s unusual to see a player actively promote a video from a rival club. Many fans on social media are taking this to mean either he is a secret Liverpool fan or is angling for a move to join Klopp’s high-flying Reds in the summer transfer window.

The video is a delightful encounter for one fan who gets surprised by Virgil van Dijk while at work and then gets to meet a bunch of his heroes at Melwood.

There remains plenty of doubt that any transfer for Maddison would actually happen in the short-to-mid term. Klopp recently stated that he is very happy with his midfield options.

If the Reds are to make a big signing in the next year it is more likely to be an attacker or creative player rather than a central operator like James Maddison. But who knows… maybe he can be one of the players fans like David get to meet in the future!
