Liverpool line up new deal after defender ‘hugely impressed’ Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool have lined up a new contract for defender Sepp van den Berg, who has ‘hugely impressed’ manager Jurgen Klopp.
Football Insider has reported that Klopp has been highly encouraged by the progress 17-year-old van den Berg is making behind the scenes and wants the club to reward that with a new deal.
The Dutch youngster only signed for Liverpool this summer for a bargain £1.3 million but is already in line for his next contract after playing just two games for the first team.
Both of his appearances came in the Carabao Cup. The first was during the victory over MK Dons and the second in the bonkers 5-5 draw with Arsenal, in which the starlet played the whole game alongside Joe Gomez.

Sepp van den Berg will play against Aston Villa in the quarter final of the competition as Klopp will take his senior side to Qatar to play in the Club World Cup.
The German is an expert at giving his young charges enough game time to progress their development without putting too much pressure on them.
Klopp also uses this technique for summer transfers – as Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andrew Robertson can confirm.
Liverpool have a healthy set of Academy players who look like they will be able to force their way into the senior squad.
Ki-Jana Hoever got his first taste of first team football last season, Neco Williams was handed a debut against Arsenal, Curtis Jones has made the leap from the Academy to the senior squad and Harvey Elliot has also made his debut.
But it looks as if Klopp has hopes for van den Berg, who could see his path to the side opened up if Dejan Lovren leaves at the end of the season. Keep an eye on the Dutchman, because if Klopp likes him that’s good enough for me.
