Liverpool v Salzburg: Three first team members ruled out with injury
By David Gate
Liverpool will head to Salzburg for their final Champions League group game missing three members of the first squad with injury.
Tomorrow night is a big hurdle for Liverpool defending their title as Champions League winners by gaining a draw or win at Salzburg to progress to the next round. However, they will have to manage without three first team stars who miss out through injury.
Fabinho has missed the last three Liverpool games after being injured in the 1-1 draw with Napoli and will be out to the new year. Though Jurgen Klopp will have a plan for how to replace the Brazilian’s defensive shield.

Joel Matip is still recovering from his knee injury that has kept him out for 11 games. There appears to be no firm time frame for his return. He was originally projected to be back in first team action by now but his recovery has not gone to schedule and he’ll miss this final group game.
The new name added to the injury report is Adam Lallana. The English attacker missed the trip to his former club Bournemouth on Saturday which saw Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones called up to the bench with the latter making his Premier League debut.
Matt Addison of the Liverpool ECHO is reporting that Lallana misses out on being named in the 19 man squad for tomorrow’s fixture with a minor issue.
That absence should see Curtis Jones named on the bench again. The big plus for Klopp is that Dejan Lovren is fit to travel after being subbed early in the Bournemouth victory.
Klopp will be happy there is no other major concerns to first team stars as the Reds play what is arguably their most important game of the season so far; at least it is the game with the most at stake for the club’s ambitions this season.
