Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was the center of a spat on Twitter involving talkSPORT and the media company ends up embarrassed.

Many Liverpool players have featured in many top 10 of the decade lists recently as the record-breaking Reds set new standards. However, talkSPORT embarrassed themselves after including Andy Robertson on one such ranking.

The list was compiled by Adrian Durham for the talkSPORT drive show and it was of the best Scottish Premiership team of the decade. The presenter included two current Liverpool players; Robertson and Virgil van Dijk.

It sparked immediate controversy as both players had limited time in the SPL; van Dijk played two seasons for Celtic and Robertson featured for just one year with Dundee before moving to Hull City in 2014.

Many began questioning the criteria for this team and the amount of Scottish football that Durham has actually watched over the last 10 years.

One replier – David Weatherston  (@dweatherston11) – pushed back at the list and Durham took it personally, snapping back:

“Are you saying he was bad for dundee utd? Joke. You didn’t even watch him did you. Had no idea who he was. Pathetic.”

But he picked the wrong man to put down as Weatherston responded:

Turns out he had played against him and was at Queens Park at the same time! Rather than admit his knowledge maybe lacking, Durham doubled down and accused Weatherston of xenophobia.

There is no doubt that Robertson has gone on to be one of the best left backs in the world but there are few who would have spotted the true potential of the Scottish captain when he was plying his trade in Dundee!
