Liverpool fans are delighted as Trent Alexander-Arnold receives plaudits after being named the Premier League player of the month for December.

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has been named as the Premier League player of the month for December and the fans are loving it.

The 21-year-old phenomenon has one of his most productive months in a Red shirt as he contributes a goal and four assists in the league including a Man-of-the-Match display against Leicester City in the 4-0 Boxing Day victory.

Aside from his domestic achievements they club also qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League and won the World Club Championship in Qatar.

It seems nailed on that Alexander-Arnold will be named in the Premier League team of the year at the end of the season as he has become the consensus best right back in the country.

The real question now is whether he can take the title as the world’s best right back? Most would say he has surpassed the ‘El Clasico’ pair of Nelson Semedo at Barcelona and Dani Carvajal at Real Madrid.

The only genuine rival as the world’s best is Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich – who is an outstanding player. But given that the German has played 20 of 26 games this season in midfield, it looks as though Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best player who regularly trots out at the position.

This is only Alexander-Arnold’s third season as a Liverpool first team regular but has seen him become crucial to the style of football the Reds play under Jurgen Klopp. He is as crucial as any of the forwards to the creativity of this dominant side.

It is worth considering that he is in the running for the Player-of-the-Year awards, fighting it out with Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk to be the best player in the Premier League this season.
