Liverpool have a huge Premier League clash with rivals Manchester United this weekend but the Red Devils could be missing nine first players with injury.

This is one of those games you look for as soon as the fixture list is released: Liverpool v Manchester United. The two most successful clubs in the country and local rivals. However, United are currently missing nine first team players for the matchup.

There is a 27 point gap between the two sides in the league, making the Reds huge favorites at home anyway. Add the lengthy injury list to the equation and bookmakers believe only one side has a realistic chance of winning.

In defense they are missing Ashley Young, Tim Fosu-Mensah, Axel Tuanzebe and Marcos Rojo. Luke Shaw also missed last weekend’s visit of Norwich and is a doubt for the Anfield game.

Long-term absentee Eric Bailly is close to a return but he is not expected to be fit enough to start after missing the entire season to this point so far.

They will certainly be without first choice midfield pairing Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba. The Scottish youngster has a knee injury, while the French World Cup winner is recovering from ankle surgery.

The other play who is struggling to be ready is Jesse Lingard who has been sick and will likely not feature against Wolves in the FA Cup third round replay tomorrow. That leaves him as a doubt for the weekend also as he has missed training for a week or so.

They also have three players on four yellow cards (Fred, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams) so could be missing even more players if there are suspensions or injuries in the Wolves game tomorrow.
