Liverpool are being linked to a huge transfer move for Kai Havertz and some of his quotes will be of interest to watching fans.

There are transfer rumors once again that Liverpool are interested in Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz. His comments from the last transfer window now seem even more relevant.

Matt Atherton of the Express reported that the Reds have met with the player’s agent along with a handful of other top clubs including Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

However, it appears that Man Utd will sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon in this transfer window instead. That creates serious doubt that they will have the desire to sign Havertz in the summer.

That leaves Bayern Munich as the chief rival to Liveprool for the 20-year-old’s signature. But Havertz threw doubt on the possibility of joining the Bundesliga giants earlier this year by saying:

"“What will happen after (the season) has not yet been decided. There is no club where I have already signed. I really don’t know yet whether FC Bayern is the next and right step for me”"

There is little doubt to not whether or not Liverpool could convince him to come to Anfield. They are the European and World Champions who are marching towards the Premier League title at record pace.

Having Jurgen Klopp as manager would also be a huge plus for Kai Havertz as both a master developer of young talent and his countryman.

The real question is would Liverpool want to spend over £100 million on a player who would start in squad rotation.

When the club shelled out world record fees for Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker they were two of the best players in the world in their positions and guaranteed immediate starters at the club.

Havertz is slightly different as a younger player who would have plenty to learn before being fully trusted by Klopp.

But with transfer money burning a hole in the club’s finances after making a net-profit in the last three windows it maybe time for LFC to make those kind of high rolling, future oriented deals.
