Former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can will complete his slide to mediocrity if his proposed transfer from Juventus to Everton goes through.
Liverpool are flying. They are breaking records and beating (literally) everybody. But former Reds star Emre Can is sinking and would slip even further if the rumors of his transfer move to Everton from Juventus are true.
The Mirror reported last week that the Toffees have readied a £30 million bid for the German international. Reports from Italy are backing up that claim as the player considers a move back to Merseyside.

Emre Can was a regular under Klopp during his spell at Anfield making 127 appearances in three seasons paired with his countryman. The club were keen to keep the midfielder for longer but Can decided to take the huge free transfer pay-day on offer from the Serie A champions.
While I was disappointed he left, I could understand his decision. His skill set perhaps suits the Italian league better, Juventus are perpetual winners and the money was excellent.
But it hasn’t worked out. He was in and out of the side in his first season at in Turin, making 20 league starts. It seems he didn’t do enough to impress those in charge.
Juve dipped their toes in the free transfer market again in the summer of 2019 to bring in both Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal and Adrien Rabiot from PSG.
That has created a log jam in midfield behind first team starters Miralem Pjanić and Blaise Matuidi. This season Can has made just two starts in Serie A and seems surplus to requirements.
It is a little surprising that Everton are interested in him because of the pure hatred most of their fans have to anything (or anyone) connected to the Reds.
However, they are desperate and the German is a proven Premier League midfielder. But I cannot see a situation where he thrives at Goodison Park; every one seems to get worse when they join that club.
It is possible that Liverpool could win the league when the two clubs face each other in March if the Reds keep winning and Man City drop more points. It would be delicious if Can was there to see his former teammates win the ultimate prize.
