Liverpool could well sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window according to one French journalist who claims the player would like an Anfield move.

Liverpool are the best football team in the world and will be for a while to come. Kylian Mbappe is one of the best players and is set to dominate world soccer for a generation. One French journalist thinks the two can paired together this summer.

Julien Laurens speaking to ESPN addressed the latest rumors of Mbappe making the shift to Anfield. If Liverpool put a deal on the table he says:

More from Rush The Kop

"“He will consider that offer, every single day of the week… Liverpool is a very attractive proposition for any top player in the world… of course Mbappe would be very interested.”"

It is testament to the work of Jurgen Klopp and the quality of the football team that it seems obvious the very best players in the world want to come to Anfield.

However, there is a very big ‘if’ that Laurens predicates his statement. He claims the Reds will have to put down an offer of “€300 million or €350 million with add-ons”.

To put that in perspective €350 million is around £300 million. That is what John Henry and FSG paid for the entire club back in 2010.

It would be a gigantic investment. The could massaged by the decision to have Nike as the club’s shirt manufacturer.  Is a fee of that size realistic?

My instinct is to say no. That is not how the club have built their side. But I didn’t expect the team to pay what they did for Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk either.

At only 21-years-old the club have the opportunity to have a top-level player for a few years AND recoup money by selling him later on.

After three quiet transfer windows Liverpool should have some cash to spend this summer and we could well see the club’s transfer record broken as the Reds look to consolidate their dominance in the Premier League.
