A striker with 122 goals in 197 appearances has talked himself up as a replacement for Liverpool star Roberto Firmino.
The Echo has reported that Rangers star Alfredo Morelos believes he is good enough to make a move to the Reds and play first team football.
But that would mean displacing first team regular Firmino from his role as the central forward – and that’s a big statement to make from a striker who has played in Colombia, Finland and Scotland but never in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
When asked about Liverpool and any potential transfer interest, Alfredo Morelas said: “I think they are aware (of me). I imagine that is the case with the coach we have.”

That coach is Steven Gerrard, of course, but that wouldn’t mean Jurgen Klopp is using the legend as a spy in the Glasglow outfit’s camp.
Transfermarkt value the 23-year-old at £13.50 million but you’d imagine any deal for him would cost more than that, given his age and importance to the side.
Would Liverpool spend that much on a volatile forward without being able to guarantee them first team football, especially when Rhian Brewster is coming back from Swansea in the summer and will be expecting some first team involvement.
And don’t forget Divock Origi is around the first team, as well as Takumi Minamino, who has already played up front under Klopp. The only conceivable was Morelos could come in would be as a replacement for Roberto Firmino.
He’s talked himself up, but we all know that isn’t going to happen.
That scoring record is impressive, but we’ve seen strikers come from the Scottish Premier League and struggle to replicate their rate of goal in England.
As for coming straight into a Liverpool side and competing with Firmino, that’s just a dream for now.
