Liverpool beat Norwich City 1-0 at Carrow Road but they owe a lot to an Alisson wonder save that has fans gasping at his agility.

With the scores at 0-0, it was a vital stop that set the Reds on their way to victory. Lukas Rupp ran in behind the defence – which is a concern in itself – and was faced with the Brazilian spotter facing him down.

Instead of shooting on his own, the German elected to square a ball to striker Teemu Pukki, which is when Alisson pounced.

It really was a marvellous bit of goalkeeping. The Brazilian stayed big, stayed on his feet and refused to commit to one particular course of action. That meant that when Rupp decided his, Alisson was able to react and palm the ball away from Pukki.

You can watch it here.

He saved a certain goal, if it would have been allowed by VAR, and kept Liverpool in a tight contest that they would eventually win 1-0 thanks to Sadio Mane.

Fans are highly impressed with the performance Alisson put in, with one Reddit user saying ‘his hands are gold’, another questioning if the stopper was ‘even human’ and a third calling him an ‘absolute beast’.

He’s already kept 10 clean sheet this season and is the first goalkeeper to reach that figure in the Premier League. The catch? He’s only played 18 games after suffering a bad achilles problem in the first round of competition.

And when you watch saves like that, you can see why. He gives the back four so much confidence to do their thing – there is no way Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold would be able to play with the freedom they do without the presence of Alisson behind them.

So another game ticks by with a clean sheet, a win and three more points towards the title quest. And our magnificence goalkeeper has played a massive part as usual.
