Didi Hamann has crossed over to the dark side
Liverpool legend Didi Hamann has crossed over to the dark side and advised a player NOT to join the club in the summer.
The Metro has uncovered this heinous act of treachery and reported it to the world, and it’s come in the form of the German midfielder.
How could he!?
We’re used to seeing old pros talk up Liverpool and how great Jurgen Klopp is, not the other way around. And the fact that Hamann told Timo Werner to accept an offer from Manchester United or Chelsea just hurts even more. I mean, really Didi? Man Utd? Come on.

Hamann just thinks Werner won’t play enough football to enjoy his time at Anfield because of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. But if Klopp wants the explosive striker, he’s got a plan to make sure that money isn’t wasted.
Okay, the German could go to Chelsea and he’d probably get in the side ahead of Tammy Abraham. Frank Lampard has got an interesting project but they’re hardly challenging for honours on all fronts.
As for the Red Devils, why would you even bother? The club’s a basket case, their best player wants to leave and they are managed by a guy who only got the job because he was a good player for them decades ago.
They’re just throwing money at the wall and seeing what sticks, but surely Timo Werner is smarter than that. Surely most players in the globe can see Old Trafford is a little bit poisonous these days.
The RB Leipzig lad will have people trying to tell him what to do until the sun goes down. Bayern Munich wanted him, but now Werner isn’t so keen because he doesn’t really feel the love after the Bavarians pulled the plug on the deal in the summer.
With 20 Bundesliga goals to his name this season, that could be a costly move. And if only we could count on more people like Didi Hamann to talk us up, Timo Werner might be ours.
