Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that Jordan Henderson could be back for Wednesday’s match against Atletico Madrid at Anfield.
The England international suffered a hamstring during the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against the La Liga side which saw him miss all the four matches that have followed with the Reds losing two of them against Watford and Chelsea.
However, Klopp has said that Henderson could return for the crucial second leg at Merseyside. Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, the club’s manager said:”Hendo is ready but what we do with that, I don’t know… or maybe I know and I don’t say!”
Klopp also added that Alisson remains sidelined with an injury that will also see him miss next week’s Merseyside derby against Everton at Goodison Park. As quoted by Goal.com, the Liverpool boss added that the stopper won’t be fit enough to take on Madrid or the Toffies.
Besides Henderson, another good news for the Reds in the fitness department is the return of Andy Robertson. The Scottish international missed Saturday’s match against Bournemouth as a precautionary measure but has said that he’s fully fit now.
As quoted by Liverpool’s official website, Robertson told reporters that his persistent ankle niggle had cleared up, and his slight hamstring strain was feeling good after sitting out over the weekend.

Alisson’s absence will be a major blow for Liverpool as he produced some fine performances for the club before sustaining his injury. Wednesday’s clash will probably be Adrian’s biggest test of this season, especially now that the Reds are trailing 0-1 on aggregate.
However, Henderson’s possible return will be a massive boost so will be that of Robertson. The former has been an influential player for the Reds this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists in 34 matches across all competitions so far. Henderson has often stood out for his leadership and he’ll be hoping to lead his side to a win on Wednesday.
As for Robertson, the way Klopp spoke regarding his omission against Bournemouth, he never seemed much of an injury and us fans will surely be delighted to see him back on the pitch and hope he produces a fine performance against Atleti.
Liverpool were unfortunate to lose against Diego Simeone’s side at Madrid but this is Anfield. The team has produced some fine performances here, specially one roundabout ten months back against Barcelona.
The crowd will undoubtedly be cheering the Reds on as usual and Klopp will be expecting a top-class performance from his players which could take them to the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
